Everton in talks over United defender

Everton have begun formal talks to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo in January.

The Argentine international is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, and Jose Mourinho is happy to let him go if it will help raise funds towards the cost of the new defender that he so desperately wants.

Rojo was linked with a move to Everton in the summer, but they eventually bought Columbian defender Yerry Mina instead, so he was forced to stay in Manchester. However, Mina has missed most of the season with injury, only making his debut in the club’s draw with Chelsea at the weekend, and they have been forced to rely on loan signing Kurt Zouma.

However, as The Metro reports, they do not rate their chances of signing Zouma on a permanent deal are very high, so they have already begun to look for alternatives, and Rojo, who can play both at centre back and left back, appears to fit the bill.
