Olivier Giroud’s Chelsea future may be in doubt, with reports linking him to a January move to Marseille, but, off the pitch, things are looking much rosier for him after it emerged that he is to feature in a Hollywood film.
The 32-year old World Cup winner has announced that he will have a role in the French-version of the new Spiderman movie, as the voice of the Green Goblin. And he will be joined by French team mate and PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe, who is to voice Scorpion in the movie.
Giroud reported the news on Twitter saying “I am very happy to announce that I will be giving my voice to the Green Goblin in the movie # SpiderManNewGeneration.”
Of course, he is the not the first French international player to feature in the movies. Eric Cantona has carved out a post-football career French cinema, although none of his roles have yet seen him landed an Oscar.
The news comes in the same week that the creator of Spiderman and many other legendary comic book figures, Stan Lee, sadly died.
