Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has scotched rumours that he was set to move to a European club on loan in January.
Former clubs United and AC Milan were both suggested as possible destinations for a short-term move for the 37 year old Swedish international but he has now ruled out the possibility insisting that he is committed to his current club LA Galaxy.
Ibrahimović moved to the Galaxy after cancelling his Manchester United contract in March and made a big impression in his first season in the MLS, scoring 22 goals in 27 appearances for the Los Angeles team. However, his season ended in disappointment because the team failed to secure a play-off berth, throwing away a two goal lead on the last day of the season to lose to Houston Dynamo.
It was though that Zlatan may follow in the footsteps of previous MLS stars like Landon Donovan, David Beckham or Thierry Henry and enjoy a spell in Europe during the break in the American season, but he has now ruled that out saying “If I belong to Galaxy, I am a Galaxy player,” he said. “I don’t go abroad and do these things – loan and this… I don’t need that.
“I mean if I belong to one club, I stay in one club. I focus on that club and I give all my attention to that club, so that is not in my mind.”
