Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is set to be handed a lucrative new deal by Liverpool, even though he has got more than three years left on his current contract.
Gomez is set to be rewarded for the form this season that has seen him force his way both into the Liverpool and England teams, with a pay packet that is commensurate with somebody of that calibre, with his manager, Jurgen Klopp, recently calling him the future of Liverpool.
The London-born defender joined the Anfield club as an 18 year old from Charlton Athletic three years ago, and, after alternating as a right-back and centre half, he has now cemented his place in his preferred position in the centre of defence. An ankle injury saw him miss the latter part of last season and Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final, but, now fully fit, he has become one of the first names on Klopp’s team sheet each week.
