Conte offers compromise to Chelsea

Antonio Conte’s departure from Chelsea in the summer was not an amicable one, and his lawyers and the club are still locked in dispute about the terms of his severance package.

Although more than 3 months have elapsed since Maurizio Sarri was installed in the manager’s chair at Stamford Bridge, Conte continues to be paid by the West London club as the two sides look to thrash out a final deal.

Now there appears to be the prospect of an end to the long-running saga, with news that Conte and his team are ready to extend an olive branch to Chelsea.

There is a reason for this change of stance. Conte has been linked with a number of high profile jobs, including that of manager of Real Madrid, with present incumbent Julen Lopetegui on the verge of being sacked. However, it is difficult for anybody to employ Conte at the moment because he is still technically employed by Chelsea, so compensation would need to be paid. Hence, the sudden willingness to compromise.
