Chelsea are apparently ready to put an end to any hopes they had that Spanish forward Alvaro Morata will ever be a success in the Premier League.
That is according to The Sun who report that the club are apparently drawing up a shortlist of top name strikers as they target a January signing that will help them mount a sustained title challenge, with both Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and AC Milan’s Patrick Cutrone amongst the names in contention.
Despite costing a club record fee of £60 million, Morata has struggled to cope with the demands of English football, and has only managed two Premier League goals so far this season. He missed out on Spain’s World Cup squad in the summer due to his poor club form, whilst, this season, Olivier Giroud has been preferred to lead the Chelsea line, despite the Frenchman having failed to find the net himself so far this campaign.
