Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona, who could be ready to make a move for him in the January window.
That is according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo who report that the Catalans want to bring in some serious competition to established left-back Jordi Alba, having let Lucas Digne join Everton in the summer.
26 year-old Moreno began his career with his home-town club Sevilla before joining Liverpool in a £12 million deal in August 2014. However, having been a regular first-team starter in his first two seasons at Anfield, he subsequently lost his place, first to James Milner, and then to Andy Robertson.
He has only started one game this season under Jurgen Klopp, the Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea, and, with first-team opportunities likely to be severely limited for him at Anfield, the chance to move to Barcelona is likely to highly appeal to him.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
