West Ham risk losing young star in pay row

Declan Rice is threatening to quit West Ham in a row about pay.

The versatile 19-year old, who can play either in defence or midfield, has been a stand-out plater in both of the Hammers’ recent matches against Everton and Chelsea.  He is currently earning £3,000 a week is under contract until 2020, and has been offered a new deal by the London club worth £12,000 a week,

However, Rice and his advisors consider that an insulting offer and one not even worth discussing. Now, with West Ham seemingly unwilling to negotiate, there appears to be a genuine fear he will leave the club, according to The Daily Mail, with a number of other Premier League clubs said to be monitoring his situation.

Rice has already played 3 times for the Republic of Ireland who he qualifies to play for through his grandparents. However, the London-born player is considering switching his international allegiance to England which he is able to do because the Republic appearances cane in friendly matches.
