Chris Smalling is on the verge of signing a new deal at Manchester United.
That is according to The Daily Star who reports that the 28-year old is happy to remain at Old Trafford, despite putting his luxury Cheshire home up for sale recently.
The England defender had looked likely to leave the club at one stage, after he lost the confidence of his manager. However, United failed to sign a replacement in the summer, despite being heavily linked with both Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguirre, and with players like Eric Bailly not trusted by Jose Mourinho, Smalling finds himself back in favour, having played in the last 5 consecutive games, including Saturday’s disappointing home draw with Wolves.
Since joining United from Fulham in July 2010, Smalling has made nearly 300 appearances for the club, and has helped them win 2 Premier League titles, the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
