Pep clarifies de Bruyne contract situation

Pep Guardiola has moved to clarify statements that he made during the international break regarding midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

An interview that he gave to Spanish television during the interlull was incorrectly translated to suggest that he had a buyout clause in his contract worth €250 million euros (£223 million), news which put several of Europe’s biggest clubs on alert.

However, speaking ahead of his side’s home clash on Fulham on Saturday, Guardiola has sought to clear up any misunderstandings that may have arisen, by saying that he would not sell de Bruyne if he was offered such a sum. When questioned further as to whether De Bruyne ha a release clause he said “No. I don’t think so. In England there are not release clauses so you have to negotiate with the club”.

The City Player of The Year last season Is currently on the side lines after picking up a knee ligament injury in training at the start of the season, with his comeback scheduled for November.
