Nacho Monreal has confirmed that he is in discussions with Arsenal about a new contract.
The 32-year old Spaniard is in the final year of his current deal at The Emirates, but despite interest from a number of clubs in Spain, he has indicated his willingness to stay in North London, saying “At the moment we are talking with the club, I’ve always said I am really happy playing for Arsenal, I have a good relationship with them”.
The Spanish international, who has 22 caps to his name, joined The Gunners from Malaga in January 2013. He has since gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the club.
After finding the net just twice in his first three seasons with Arsenal, he has begun to score with more regularity, scoring six goals in all competitions last season. He is already off the mark this season as well, scoring the equaliser in the home win against West Ham last month.
