Former England striker interested in Rangers move

Former England striker Darren Bent has indicated that he wants to join Rangers if given the chance.

The 34-year old forward is currently training with League One side Burton Albion after being released by Derby County at the end of last season, and is actively looking for a new club, despite Burton boss Nigel Clough offering him a pay if you play deal.

However, Bent has more lofty ambitions, and, according to talkSPORT, would love to head north of the border and join Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Ex-Tottenham, Sunderland, and Villa striker Bent spent the latter part of last season on loan with Burton, but, despite scoring twice for them in 15 appearances, he was unable to prevent them being relegated from the Championship.

Bent was recently criticised by his former manager at Derby, Paul Clement, who said he was “fat” and “lazy” during his time at the club, after the player criticised the current Reading boss’s training methods.
