John Terry makes surprise Russia move

John Terry is set to end speculation about his immediate future by signing for Russian side Spartak Moscow.

Terry, who is a free agent, was heavily linked with a move back to Aston Villa, where he spent last season, as well as Rangers, whilst he was also rumoured to have offers from Sky to become a TV pundit.

Instead he is moving to Moscow, where he will reportedly earn £1.8 million after tax for the coming season, with an option on the table for a second year.

According to The Daily Telegraph that is far more money than any other club was prepared to pay for him, and with the 37-year old fully rejuvenated after his first full summer holiday in years, he feels he can cope with the physicality of the Russian  league.

Spartak are in need of defensive cover following a cruciate ligament injury suffered by French defender Samuel Gigot, which will force him to sit out most of the coming season.
