Albanian winger set to join Rangers in last minute deal

Albanian winger Eros Grezda is set to become Steven Gerrard’s 13th summer signing as Rangers’ boss, with The Scottish Sun reporting that the 23-year old has already arrived in Scotland for a medical.

The 23-year old currently plays for Osijek, the Croatian team that Rangers knocked-out of the Europa League qualifying campaign, though he missed that tie, and all Osijek’s matches so far this season due to injury.

Despite that, Rangers who have already snapped-up Grezda’s former team mate, Borna Barisic, from the same club, are determined to press ahead with the signing, prompted in part by an injury to Jaime Murphy, who is out for the season after suffering an cruciate ligament injury on Kilmarnock’s plastic pitch.

Grezda’s signing is subject to international clearance but, if it is received, he could be set for a baptism of fire, because he is in line to start the first Old Firm meeting of the season when Rangers travel to Parkhead on Sunday lunchtime.
