This week could be a pivotal one for Tottenham full-back Danny Rose.
The England left-back is out of favour at Spurs and has not figured at all under Mauricio Pochittino this season. Persistently linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the second part of last season, no firm offers were made for him during the summer, and now he is desperately hoping that a European club will make a move for him before their own transfer windows shut on Friday.
PSG have been widely tipped to make a move for him, but now comes news that they could face competition for his signature in the shape of their Ligue 1 rivals Marseille.
Pochettino is prepared to let Rose leave, either on loan or, or, if can be achieved in the few days remaining, on a permanent basis. For his part, Rose wants to keep his international career alive and recognises that he needs to be playing regular first-team football to feature in Gareth Southgate’s plans.
