City look to solve goalkeeping crisis by signing free agent

Manchester City are looking to solve their goalkeeping crisis by signing 35-year old Brazilian Diego Cavalieri.

City’s problems stem from the injury sustained by back-up keeper Claudio Bravo in training last Monday, which is likely to rule him out until next year. Having already sold Joe Hart and Angus Gunn over the summer, they find themselves with no major back-up to first-choice Ederson.

Montenegro under-21 international Aro Muric has already been recalled from his loan spell with Dutch side NAC Breda, and there is also academy graduate Daniel Grimshaw available, but both lack experience, especially when it comes to the Premier League, which is why they are considering Cavalieri, according to Portuguese outlet Globo Esporte, who was Liverpool’s third choice keeper between 2008 and 2010, and had a spell at Crystal Palace last season, although he did not make a senior appearance.

As he is a free agent, City are available to sign him, despite the transfer window having closed for English clubs.
