England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is considering his future after being left out of last weekend’s Chelsea squad to face Arsenal, with suggestions he could still leave on loan to a European club before the transfer window opens.
The 22-year old spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace where his form was good enough to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans, and he featured in all the Three Lions’ group games.
Despite that, on returning to his parent club, he finds intense competition for places in Chelsea’s midfield, with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas and Matteo Kovacic all contending for a starting berth.
That has led Loftus-Cheek to consider his options, as he wants to continue his development and maintain his place in the England squad. Chelsea are said to want him to stay, reports The Daily Mirror, but, if they cannot guarantee him regular football, he may consider a move to Germany, France, or Spain, all of whose clubs have another week or so in order to sign players before their transfer windows close.
