Arsenal are refusing to bow to Aaron Ramsey’s wage demands, whilst still hoping he will commit to another contract with the club.
The 27-year old Welsh midfielder is in the final year of his contract at The Emirates, and, although a new deal is on the table for him, he has refused to sign, with reports suggesting that he is looking for a substantial pay increase over his current wage of £110,000 a year.
However, as The Evening Standard reports that he wants parity with Mesut Ozil, who is on £350,000 a week, have been scotched by his agent.
Arsenal will be hoping that the Ramsey contract situation will not be a repeat of the ongoing sage with Ozil and Alexi Sanchez that dogged the club for most of last season and Unai Emery’s decision to leave him out of the starting line-up against Chelsea has been seen, by some, as a sign that Unai Emery is ready to relegate Ramsey to the fringes of the team if he does not sign his new deal.
