Aston Villa are still looking to bring in more players on loan before the transfer window, with one player they particularly want being Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
The 20-year old England international has spent the previous two years out on loan, with a successful spell at Bristol City followed by a more mixed season with Swansea City, which saw the club relegated and the striker limited to just 5 goals.
He featured in Chelsea’s pre-season tour but, apparently not in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the season, they may be prepared to let him go out again on loan to get regular first-team football.
Villa, after facing severe financial problems at the start of the transfer window, are trying to play catch-up after new investment in the club, and are looking to get more players on loan, with the express intention of freshening-up what is an ageing squad, with manager Steve Bruce saying “That ageing squad nearly got us there (to promotion). But the way forward, certainly, is to be more energetic – and we want the players to be ours.
‘The remit going forward is to be younger and fresher. We need them to be permanent signings, though, really rather than putting the stick and plaster over it like we have done in the past 12 months or so.’
