Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to join AC Milan on a season-long loan, just a year after arriving at Stamford Bridge in a £40 million transfer from Monaco.
Despite being highly rated, the French international failed to impress during his first season in the Premier League, and was widely criticised by fans and pundits alike for a number of his performances, most notably Chelsea’s defeat on the last day of the campaign against Newcastle, and the away fixture against Watford where he saw red after only 30 minutes.
Any hopes that a change of manager at Chelsea in the form of Maurizio Sarri would bring about a change of Bakayoko’s fortunes in West London appear to have been dashed, as the Italian has made it clear that the 23-year old does not figure in his long-term plans.
Instead, as Sky Sports reports, he is set to leave for Milan on a season-long loan, which includes an option to buy for the Serie A club of £35.56 million.
