Leeds United are set to sign Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford, with the player set for a medical, ahead of a deal being concluded worth up to £10 million, once bonuses have been factored into the equation.
The Daily Mail reports that Leeds have reached agreement both with club and player for the 24-year old to move to Elland Road.
A former Nottingham Forest academy player, who was once offered a football scholarship by Harvard University, Bamford joined Chelsea for a fee of £1.5 million in 2012 but never played a first-team match at Stamford Bridge, instead embarking on a succession of loan moves that took in the likes of Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley. Having spent the 2014-2015 season ay Middlesbrough, Bamford joined the Teesside club in a £6.5 million permanent deal last year, and eventually scored 13 goals for Tony Pulis’s team in 43 appearances.
Leeds start their Championship campaign next Sunday at home to newly-relegated Stoke City, who are most people’s favourites to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
