Danny Drinkwater ready to end his unhappy Chelsea stay

England international Danny Drinkwater is ready to bring down the curtain on his unhappy stay at Chelsea less than a year after arriving at the club.

Drinkwater was signed on transfer deadline day from Leicester City for £35 million, amidst hopes that he could revive the midfielder partnership with N’Golo Kante that helped propel Leicester to the Premier League title in 2015 – 2016. However, those hopes were dashed by a series of injuries and, when he was fit, failed to convince manager Antonio Conte that he was worth a starting berth, and was limited to just 12 Premier League appearances, mainly as a substitute.

Now, according to The Daily Mirror, Drinkwater finds himself even further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, after the arrival at the club of Jorginho, and, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for him, either on  a permanent deal or on loan.

Southampton, Crystal Place and his former club Leicester City are all said to be monitoring his situation.
