Steven Gerrard is expected to make his 11th summer signing of the transfer window with a deal to take Manchester City defender Kean Bryan to Ibrox said to be close.
21-year old Bryan, who has been capped by England up to under-20 level, is highly regarded and, according to The Scottish Sun, was once tipped as a future star by no less than Patrick Vieira, when he was in charge of the City academy.
However, he has seen his development at the Etihad stymied under Pep Guardiola, and spent last season on loan with League One side Oldham, for whom he made 32 appearances and was voted their Young Player of the Season.
Bryan is known for his vision and passing ability, as well as for his long-range shooting ability, but although he played in defence for Oldham, he is expected to be deployed on the left side of midfield by Rangers.
