One of the most recognisable figures from the World Cup could soon be plying his trade in England after West Ham submitted a formal £16 million bid for Croatian centre-half Domagoj Vida.
That is according to Turkish media outlet NTV Spor who report that West Ham have stolen a march on Premier League rivals Liverpool and Everton, who have also been tracking the 29-year old defender with the distinctive hairstyle, by making a firm offer to his parent club Besiktas.
However, they are likely to reject that valuation as being too low, which could start a bidding war amongst those clubs vying for the signature of a player who has only been with the club since January.
Prior to that he spent 5 years with Dynamo Kiev, and his political sympathies led him into hot water with FIFA and earned the displeasure of home Russian fans during the World Cup when he uttered pro-Ukraine chants after his side’s Quarter-Final victory over the hosts.
