Jack Wilshere, who is a free agent after leaving Arsenal, is moving closer to a move to West Ham United.
That is according to The Evening Standard, who reports that the 26-year old is keen to join the club he and his family supported when he was a boy. Wilshere was also heavily linked earlier this month with Turkish side Fenerbahce, but it looks to be The Hammers who are leading the chase for his signature.
Wilshere, who had been at Arsenal since he was 9 years old, rejected the chance to stay at Arsenal and turned down a fresh deal at the club, after discussions with new manager Unai Emery, during which the Spaniard informed the England international that he could not be guaranteed of regular first-team football at The Emirates next season.
He has been linked with moves to a number of Premier League and Serie A teams, in addition to the Fenerbahce interest, but now it looks like he has chosen to stay in London.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
