According to reports, Chelsea have agreed reached an agreement with Juventus to buy Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The 30-year old forward joined Juventus in 2016 from fellow Serie A club Napoli where he worked under Maurizio Sarri, who is set to be confirmed as the new Chelsea boss shortly. In his last season at the club he equalled a Serie A record of scoring 36 goals in just 35 games, and, in the process, earned himself a record Italian transfer to Juventus of €90 million (£80 million).
He has won the domestic double during his time with Juventus, but the feeling remains that he has not justified his fee, with a tendency to go “missing” in big games, and accusation which could also be labelled at him during his international career, with a string of high profile misses to his name, most notably in the 2014 World Cup Final, and the finals of the 2015 and 2016 Copa America.
His arrival at Stamford Bridge, for a fee reported to be around £53 million, raises further doubts about the Chelsea future of Alvaro Morata.
