La Liga side Villarreal have signed Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year Argentine has signed a four-year contract with the Spanish side, after leaving Everton where he spent three seasons, who he joined from his home town club River Plate from Buenos Aires.
He played 67 times in all competitions for The Toffees, scoring five goals, but a knee injury last season restricted his playing time with the first team reports The BBC, and he only made four appearances for the senior side.
Funes Mori has won 19 full caps for Argentina, but was omitted from their squad for the World Cup – which he may now regard as a blessing in disguise as he will not be subject to the same opprobrium as the rest of the team following their Group stage humiliation at the hands of Croatia on Thursday night.
Villarreal finished fifth in La Liga last season and will play in The Europa League this campaign.
