Rangers are closing in on their eighth signing of the summer, as they seek to negotiate a season-long loan for Roma striker Umar Sadiq.
The 21-year old Nigerian joined Roma initially on loan from Serie B side Spezia, before it was made into a permanent deal at the end of the 2015 – 2016 season. He made 6 appearances and scored 2 goals for the Giallorossi in that season, but since then has been sent on a series of loans, first to Bologna, then Torino and, most recently to Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda , for whom he scored five times in 12 starts.
Now he could be set for his fourth loan in as many seasons, with The Scotsman reporting that negotiations with the Ibrox hierarchy are at an advanced stage. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is hopeful that the deal can be done in time for Sadiq to join the rest of the squad at their Spanish pre-training camp.
