Steven Gerrard’s rebuilding at Ibrox continues apace as Rangers have made another signing with the capture of Connor Goldson from Rangers.
The 25-year player began his professional career with League One side Shrewsbury Town, moving to Brighton in August 2015. However, in February last year, a routine screening detected a heart condition, and he was forced to miss the rest of that season following preventative surgery.
He was able to return to action at the start of last season but found first-team opportunities at Brighton limited, and he has now taken the chance to move north of the border to kick-start his career.
The central defender is a boyhood Liverpool fan, and is delighted at the prospect of working with a former Anfield legend in the shape of Gerrard, as he told the club’s official website: “Steven Gerrard had a massive influence on my decision to sign. Now he is my manager and I want to be able to learn off him as a coach and as a manager.”
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
