ESPN report that Jamie Vardy is in advanced talks with Leicester City about a new deal at the King Power Stadium.
The news comes amidst rumours that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are readying a bid for the 31-year old striker. However, Leicester are determined to hang on their star and are prepared to offer him a new contract with fresh terms, even though he has two years left on his current contract.
Vardy had another impressive season for a Leicester side which struggled for form and consistency last season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, and taking the captain’s armband on a number of occasions towards the end of the season.
Since joining Leicester from then non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012, Vardy has scored 89 goals in 234 appearances for the club, and was a pivotal figure in their 2015 – 2016 Premier League winning side. He has also won 21 caps for England and will shortly be joining up with the squad as they jet off to Russia for the World Cup.
