ESPN reports that Napoli player Jorginho is in talks with Manchester City about a move to The Etihad.
The 26-year old has been one of the best players in Italy this season, and all of Europe’s biggest clubs have shown an interest in signing him, with both Bayern Munich and Manchester United among his suitors. However, it now looks as if City are in a pole position, with the Premier League champions readying a bid of around £52 million for him.
Pep Guardiola is looking for a new central midfielder in the summer, and Shaktar Donetsk’s Fred and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Wiegl have also been tracked. However, Fred is no longer thought to be a target as City do not want to get in a bidding war for the Brazilian with neighbours Manchester United, and have turned their attention to Jorginho instead.
Although Jorginho holds both Italian and Brazilian citizenship and is eligible to play for both, he has chosen to represent Italy at international level.
