Manuel Pellegrini set for West Ham job

Former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to take up the vacant manager’s job at West Ham, after terms on a £7 million deal were finalised over the weekend, reports The Daily Mirror.

The East London club moved for the Chilean, after their first choice, Rafa Benitez, indicated that he preferred to stay as manager of Newcastle United.  Also in the frame were reported to be former PSG boss Unai Emery, and Paulo Fonseca, currently manager of Shaktar Donetsk in the Ukraine.

But now it looks like Pellegrini is set to return to the Premier League, where he last managed in 2016 before being replaced at City by Pep Guardiola. Since then he has been managing in China with Hebei China Fortune, although, over the weekend, they confirmed that he had left the role after overseeing a 2 –  1 win over Chongqing Lifan.

The West Ham manager’s position is open because the club’s owners decided not to renew David Moyes short-term contract last week.
