Swansea City close to move for Liverpool youngster

The BBC reports that newly relegated Swansea City are on the verge of signing Liverpool under-23 player Yan Dhanda.

The 19-year old was the first player of Indian heritage to sign a professional contract with Liverpool when he agreed a two and a half year deal with them in December 2015, but, with this contract up this summer, the forward, who was born in Birmingham, is set to move to the Welsh club who will be trying to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Dhanda started his career with West Bromwich Albion but joined the Liverpool academy in July 2013, the same year that he won the up and coming player category at the Asian football awards. However, despite a number of appearances for their under-23 side this season and being described by manager Jurgen Klopp as one of the “next boys on the production line” a year ago, he is set to move on because there are a lot of players ahead of him in he pecking order at Anfield, and his prospects of first-team football at the club are slim.
