Chelsea target as new boss hints at Napoli exit

Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, who is favoured to take over as Chelsea boss in the summer has hinted that he is ready to leave the Italian club, reports The MailOnline.

Speaking after his club’s 2 – 2 home draw with Torino on Sunday,  a result that virtually guarantees a seventh successive Serie A title for Juventus, Sarri said that perhaps it was time to leave whilst there was still love on both sides between him and the Napoli fans. He also confirmed the existence of a long-rumoured release clause in his contract of £7m.

Sarri is said to be the most prominent candidate to replace his fellow Italian Antonio Conte as Chelsea Manager, who is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge after a turbulent season which has seen him clash with the club hierarchy over transfer policy. However, Sarri has had his own problems with club officials recently, with Napoli owner Antonio de Laurentiis criticising him in the wake of the Torino result, suggesting a lack of rotation had damaged the team’s chances of winning the title.

Sarri’s final match in charge of Napoli may be against Crotone on May 20th, a day after Conte’s last fixture of the season which is the FA Cup Final against Manchester United.
