The Sun reports that Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey is high on Pep Guardiola’s shopping list for the summer, as the Manchester City manager prioritises quality over quantity when it comes to the club’s transfer activity in the coming window.
Following his statement that City will bring in no more than two new players in the summer, speculation has arisen that Bailey is one of two names shortlisted in terms of attacking targets, with Kylian Mbappe rumoured to be the other.
However, given that PSG have an option to buy Mbappe, who has been on loan with them this season. £44 million rated Bailey is regarded as a more realistic option.
Jamaican Bailey, who only joined Leverkusen from Belgian club Genk in January 2017, has been one of the stars of the Bundesliga this season, and has scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists for Bayer this season. Previously linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea, Bailey can play either out wide or through the centre.
Controversially Bailey refuses to play international football for his country until the standards of Jamaican football improve.
