Liverpool and Arsenal target banned from training

SkySports reports that Liverpool and Arsenal target Max Meyer has played his last game for Schalke, and has been banned from training with the Bundesliga side.

It follows an interview that he gave to German media outlet Bild, in which he criticised the club’s Sporting director Christian Heidel and accused Schalke of trying to bully him over contract negotiations. In turn Schalke have labelled his actions as unacceptable, and have effectively excluded him from first team involvement for the rest of the season.

This means, in effect, the end of Meyer’s career with the German club because he is out of contract in June, and has previously indicated that he had no intention of signing a new deal with them.

The 22-year old holding midfielder, who can also play in a more advanced role, has been widely linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Liverpool and Arsenal heavily linked with him for months.
