Firmino signs new long-term Liverpool deal

The BBC reports that Roberto Firmino has signed a new long-term deal at Liverpool.

The 26-year old Brazilian joined the Anfield club from Hoffenheim in 2015, and has since gone on to make 140 appearances for the club, scoring 50 goals in the process. He has enjoyed a particularly productive campaign this season, and as part of Liverpool’s three-man strike force, alongside the prolific Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, has helped propel his club to the brink of the Champions League final.

Now he has committed his long-term future to the club, telling the club’s website “it was an easy decision. The club have taken me in an incredible way”.

Firmino has scored 27 times in all competitions this season and his 15 goals in the league make him the most prolific Brazilian scorer in a Premier League season, surpassing the previous mark set by Robinho when he played for Manchester City.

There is also more good news likely to come for Liverpool fans, with reports emerging that both Salah and Mane are ready to sign new deals and commit their futures to the Anfield club as well.
