talkSPORT reports that Chelsea goalkeeper and his father have instigated legal action against Marc Wilmots, former boss of the Belgian national side.
This follows allegations made by Wilmots that Courtois’ father Thierry, had leaked team selections during the 2016 European Championships in France. Wilmots was Belgian national manager between 2012 and 2016, but was sacked when his team, who were heavily tipped to win the tournament, were knocked out at the Quarter-Final stage by Wales. Subsequently, Wilmots claimed that his team had been undermined by a mole within the camp, leaking squad selection to social media almost as soon as he had announced the team, with the finger firmly pointed at Courtois, Belgium’s number one goalkeeper, and his dad.
Now Courtois and his father are suing Wilmots for libel and defamation of character, with Courtois stating on his Instagram account “Mr Wilmots- not for the first time – reiterates publicly and intentionally accusations against my honour and my reputation.”
