Spurs striker linked with move back to Spain

The Daily Mirror reports that Tottenham striker Fernando LLorente is ready to quit the club in the summer and return to his former club Athletic Bilbao.

Llorente joined Spurs from Swansea City on transfer deadline day last August, but has experienced a frustrating time in North London, scoring just 5 goals in all competitions, and spending most of the season warming the bench.

Now it looks like he may be ready to cut short his sojourn at Tottenham, in favour of a move back to la Liga side Athletic Bilbao, a club he knows well having spent 9 seasons there between 2004 and 2013, making 333 appearances for them and scoring 118 goals. Llorente said “if they do make me a proposal to come back, then I would have to think about it and yes, maybe it could happen”.

The Spanish international joined Spurs after a strong season at Swansea in which his 15 goals helped the Welsh club avoid relegation. However, he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by behind Harry Kane, and now both player and club are ready to part company this summer.
