The Daily Mail reports that Pep Guardiola is set to sign a one-year extension to his current contract at Manchester City, which will see him earn £20 million a year.
Guardiola took charge at the Etihad in the summer of 2016, initially agreeing a three-year deal to manage the club. Now it looks like he could be ready to extend his stay in Manchester by another year, after meetings between the Catalan and the club’s owners in Abu Dhabi during City’s spell in the Middle East for warm weather training.
City have already won the League Cup and are on the verge of winning the Premier League, although they will be forced to wait at least a week longer, having thrown away the chance to wrap the title up on Saturday evening, squandering a two-goal lead to bitter rivals Manchester United, before eventually losing 3 – 2. They are still in the Champions League as well but have it all to do to turn round a three goal deficit to Liverpool mid-week.
