According to The Evening Standard, Real Madrid’s interest in Chelsea star Eden Hazard has cooled.
Real have been monitoring the player for several seasons, and were expected to step up their interest this summer. However, it is now understood that the Spanish champions are yet to make any enquiries with Chelsea or the player’s representatives, and are not in any hurry to do so either.
The reason for this is that Hazard’s form has dropped in recent months, and with a similar talent already at the club in the form of Marco Asencio, who is five years Hazard’s junior, Real are unsure whether to continue their pursuit of the Belgian international, especially as Chelsea are likely to demand a fee in excess of £100 million for his signature.
Hazard has failed to score or create an assist in his last five appearances, and was largely anonymous during his club’s home defeat to Spurs on Sunday.
