De Gea set to sign new 5-year deal with United

The Sun reports that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is set to sign a new 5-year deal with the club worth £350,000 a week, fending off interest from Real Madrid, who have long been linked with the Spaniard.

Talks with the player and his representatives will start later this month, after initial discussions earlier this season, with United hoping to get the matter tied-up before de Gea leaves for the World Cup at the end of May.

If de Ge does sign the new deal, he will be the second biggest earner at Old Trafford, after Alexis Sanchez who is reported to be on a staggering £505,000 a week.

The keeper is out of contract at the end of next season, but United have no intention of letting him leave the club, especially after a season which has seen him star for the team in a number of games, not least last weekend when he made two stunning saves from Swansea’s Tammy Abrahams in the space of a minute to preserve United’s two-goal lead.
