The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester United and Juventus are ready to do battle to sign Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo.
The 23-year old right back plays for Valencia, but he is currently on a one-year loan with Inter Milan. The Italian club have the option of making the move permanent, but, despite the player making a number of impressive displays for them this season, are unwilling to go as high as the £30 million price tag demanded.
That has alerted both Manchester United and Juventus to his potential availability, with both clubs in the market for new right-backs. Jose Mourinho needs a long-term successor to Antonio Valencia whilst Juventus are likely to lose Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner in the summer.
Cancelo has won seven international caps for his country, but was sent off playing for Portugal during their surprise 3 – 0 friendly defeat to the Netherlands on Monday night played in Geneva.
