The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are eyeing a summer bid for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.
With Luke Shaw likely to leave the club, and question marks over the futures of both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, manager Jose Mourinho wants to overhaul the Manchester United defence this season, and 20-year old Tierney is viewed as a potential recruit, not least because of his versatility. Although he is principally a left-back, he can also operate on the opposite flank and even as a central defender.
Tierney is long established at Celtic and has already made more than 120 appearances for the Glasgow club, having already won two Scottish titles, a Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup during his time at Parkhead.
He signed a six year contract with Celtic last year, and the Scottish Champions are under no pressure to sell him. However, reports suggest that a bid in the region of £20 million would be enough to secure his services, which would make him cheaper than some of the other alternative Manchester United targets, such as Danny Rose of Spurs and Alex Sandro of Juventus.
