According to The Daily Mirror, Arsenal have been told that they must pay at least £35 million to sign Benfica defender Ruben Dias.
Arsenal have identified central defence as one area where they need to recruit in the summer, with German Per Mertesacker set to retire and take charge of the club’s Academy system, and team captain Laurent Koscielny turning 33 later this year, and beset with an ongoing Achilles injury that needs daily treatment.
Dias is one player who has been linked with a move to the Emirates, with Arsenal scouts said to have watched the player several times this season.
Benfica have indicated that they are willing to let the 20-year old leave in the summer, and are probably willing to listen to offers of £35 million for the defender, although he has a release clause of €60 million (£52.5 million).
Dias has 4 caps for Portugal at under-21 level, but has yet to appear for the senior international side.
