Luke Shaw is set to leave Manchester United after his latest fall-out with manager Jose Mourinho, reports Eurosport.
The 22-year old and his Portuguese manager have endured a difficult relationship in recent months, with Mourinho critical of both the left-back’s form and fitness. However, it appeared that Shaw had turned a corner and was on the brink of being offered a new contract.
All that, however, was before the weekend’s cup-tie with Brighton, which saw Shaw hauled-off by his manager at half-time, with Mourinho scathing in his criticism of his performance saying “Luke, in the first half, every time they came in his corner, the cross came in and a dangerous situation was coming. I was not happy with his performance”.
This latest row may well see Shaw leave the club, although he remains contracted until the summer of 2019.
Mourinho’s treatment of Shaw has not gone down well with some of his teammates, with some feeling that his behaviour amounts to bullying. However, given Mourinho has just signed a new contact at Old Trafford, he is in a very strong position to dictate terms to any player.
