Jamie Carragher £1 million a year role in jeopardy after spitting incident

Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher’s lucrative job with Sky Sports hangs in the balance reports The Daily Mail after he spat at a teenage schoolgirl following Saturday’s match between his former club and Liverpool.

Carragher worked as a pundit at the match on Old Trafford, and was driving home after the match on the motorway when he became involved with another driver. What started out as banter quickly turned ugly and the ex-footballer reacted by winding down the window of his Range Rover and spitting in the direction of the other vehicle, hitting the 14-year old in the face.

Now he could has been suspended by Sky who said “it takes the matter extremely seriously and strongly condemns Jamie’s actions. ” It added that they had “made that clear to him in person” and that “it falls well below the standards we expect of our people”.

Carragher himself has apologised  to the family concerned and said that whilst he was goaded there was no excuse for his behaviour and  that he was “totally out of order.”

The broadcaster has already lost one job because of the incident with Danish broadcaster TV3 dropping him from their coverage of this week’s Manchester United and Sevilla match.

Social media has been flooded with hundreds of football fans demanding Sky sack the pundit.
