According to talkSPORT, Manchester United are planning to move for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the summer.
United Manager Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen his defence, with residual concerns about the centre back pairing of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, and whilst he is keen on Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, Papastathopoulos is regarded as a viable alternative.
United have apparently had the 29-year old scouted on a number of occasions this season and could be ready to make a £20 million bid for defender once the summer transfer window opens.
The Greek international, who has 78 caps to his name, has made over 150 appearances for Dortmund since being signed by their then manager Jurgen Klopp in 2013 from fellow Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.
He began his career in his native Greece before moving to Italy and Genoa. He spent two seasons with the Serie A club before moving to Germany after a very brief spell with AC Milan.
