According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland, for a fee of around £40 million.
Despite playing for a team struggling in the relegation places in the Premier League, Butland has impressed this season, and with Joe Hart struggling for form and regular football at West Ham, the 24-year old could well be England’s number one keeper in Russia this year.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in the player, but Butland is thought to favour a move to Anfield and the chance to play under Jurgen Klopp, as well as the opportunity to play in the Champions League.
While Stoke are reconciled to losing their star, they are demanding a fee in excess of the £34.7 million that Manchester City paid Benfica for Ederson at the start of this season, with a sum of £40 million said to be on the table.
