Tottenham have identified Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld should the Belgian leave the club in the summer, reports The Daily Mail.
Alderweireld’s current contract expires in June 2019, and with no indications that he is ready to sign a new deal, Spurs may be ready to sell the defender in the summer, rather than see him leave on a free a year later.
22-year old Tah is one of the players on Spurs list, and they have watched him several times already this season, with the player developing a reputation as being composed on the ball with excellent positional sense.
He has also broken into the German national side, winning his cap in Germany’s 3 – 2 friendly defeat at home to England in March 2016, when, ironically enough, two of the English goals came from potential future teammates in the shape of Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
